Las Vegas Restaurant Week — June 2-13

Three Square, Las Vegas’s only food bank, will convene Restaurant Week, June 2-13. More than 100 of the city’s finest restaurants will offer three-course prix fixe menus—some offering breakfast, lunch and/or dinner—at price points ranging from $20 to $120. A fixed portion of the meal’s cost will directly support Three Square and Southern Nevadans who are food insecure. Since 2007, millions of meals have been provided for those in need through funds raised during the yearly Restaurant Week.

The mobile-friendly website restaurantweeklv.org provides a list of participating restaurants, menus, and special promotions with the ability to search by price point, type of cuisine, and location type. In addition, several special promotions are taking place at several restaurants, which are detailed on the Restaurant Week website.

Restaurant owners and chefs interested in participating should contact Three Square’s Restaurant Week team at restaurantweek@threesquare.org.

Pick of the Week: Boom Bang Fine Foods & Cocktails

Boom Bang Fine Foods & Cocktails opened in 2021 at a tenuous time when restaurant openings were not a surefire prospect. Three and a half years later, this restaurant in the Smith’s center at 75 S Valle Verde, just south of the 215 freeway in Henderson, is still putting out outstanding fare.

The cuisine’s excellence is due in large part to Bravo Top Chef Alum and Joël Robuchon’s first female sous chef, Elia Aboumrad, who recently competed (and did quite well, making it to the 5th round) in the Food Network’s 24 in 24: Last Chef Standing competition.

The American brasserie has a very inviting, bright, and cheerful décor. It includes cactus wallpaper; tabletops with embossed buttons sourced from Chef Elia’s father’s haberdashery in Mexico City; tones of deep green, orange, and gold; and an expansive outdoor patio.

As for Chef Elia’s creations, it’s noteworthy for her use of quality ingredients and a variety of world cuisines, like Bucatini Bolognese with Niman Ranch Custom Blend Grass-fed ground beef in a classic Bolognese sauce, Mary’s Half Organic Roasted Chicken with organic yoghurt za’ataar sauce, and domestic Wagyu Steak Frites with hotel butter. Best sellers include Dover Sol Meuniere with potato puree, Mary’s Duck Confit with cherry cassis compote and rosemary zinfandel sauce, and Organic Short Rib with Bordelaise salsa verde. Other bonuses are a raw bar stocked with salmon, tuna, oysters, Maine lobster, Oishi shrimp, and Noble Bulgarian Ossetra caviar; and nightly specials such as Taco Tuesdays with Filet Mignon Tacos with sautéed peppers and onions and Grilled Shrimp Tacos in a creamy chipotle fondue.

Bar Manager Skylar Sanders leads the bar program featuring inventive cocktails like the American Gangster: his version of an Old Fashioned with rye whiskey, apple brandy, all spice dram, demerara syrup, and orange bitters; and The Banana Split with vodka, chocolate liqueur, banana cream, and strawberry syrup which Skylar says tastes so much like the classic dessert that many patrons order it for the finale of their meal. There’s also a beer list spotlighting local beers such as Beer Zombies Duck Hunter IPA, Tenaya Creek Pilsner, and Bonanza Brown Ale.

Excellent values can be found during lunch, served Friday and Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with everything on the menu priced from $10 to $29. Even deeper discounts are offered during happy hour Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with deals of select cocktails for $9, draft beer for $6, house wine for $7, fries for $4, thin crust pizza for $12-$15, Smash Burger for $8, Fried Cauliflower for $7, Hummus for $10, and Chicken Strips for $9.

Boom Bang Fine Foods & Cocktails is yet another example of quality, accomplished chefs offering opportunities for exemplary dining OFF the Vegas Strip. For hours and complete menus, visit www.boombang.restaurant.

PISCES Bar & Seafare Opens at Wynn

PISCES Bar & Seafare is now open at Wynn Las Vegas in the former space of Lakeside.

The dining room’s décor is awash in rich blue tones along with gleaming bronze, Mosaic floors of copper-infused glass, a light fixture of four hundred rum-colored Murano glass orbs suspended above the bar, and an expansive seafood display. And of course, there’s the outdoor patio with a view of the Lake of Dreams.

The kitchen is helmed by Executive Chef Martin Heierling, whose 30-year career includes leadership roles in Five-Star hotels such as Bellagio in Las Vegas and St. Regis in NYC. The menu offerings inspired by coastal traditions of the Mediterranean include Lobster Spaghettini with fennel and tomato, dry-aged Grilled Orata Seabream and Salt-Baked Loup de Mer, Jamón Ibérico Croquetas with gold leaf and chive blossom, and Paella alla Pisces with spiny lobster tail, shrimp, calamari, mussels, clams, nora chili rouille, saffron, and bomba rice.

The cocktails, curated by Wynn Las Vegas’ Master Mixologist Mariena Mercer Boarini, complement the seafood-driven menu with inventive libations like the Sirena, which features strawberry lemongrass vodka, passionfruit cordial, wild thyme honey, pineapple, Amalfi citrus, and clarified Greek yogurt.

PISCES Bar & Seafare is open nightly with the bar opening at 4:30 p.m. and dinner service starting at 5:00 p.m. For more info and to view the complete menu, click here.
