Pick of the Week: Lazy Dog

Lazy Dog Restaurants, known for its made-from-scratch innovative twists on American dishes served with small mountain town hospitality, has opened its third Las Vegas-area location, at 594 N. Stephanie St. just south of Sunset in Henderson. It joins two others at Town Square and Downtown Summerlin and marks the brand’s 53rd across eight states.

The space draws inspiration from the lifestyle of the Rocky Mountains, where Founder Chris Simms spent time with family growing up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The décor features lodge-inspired furnishings including ledge stone, tree stump pillars, images depicting dogs, and artwork reminiscent of the Cowboy State. An expansive dog-friendly outdoor area includes a covered patio with a firepit, open-air bar with two additional firepits, festoon lighting, and games like cornhole and giant Jenga.

The new location’s food menu includes several new seasonal dishes debuting here before being offered at the other Las Vegas locations, including Loco Moco Fried Rice with wok-fired rice, hickory-smoked ham, seasoned ground beef, soy sauce, garlic chili crisp, furikake, sunny-side up egg, and teriyaki gravy; Cowboy Ribeye Burger—grilled half pound beef patty topped with shaved ribeye steak and lager cheese sauce; vegetarian Spinach Enchilada Casserole with mushroom and brown rice & walnut chorizo; and Cauliflower Ceviche with citrus-marinated cauliflower, bell peppers, jalapenos, and cilantro served with tortilla chips and guacamole.

Guests can continue the experience at home with frozen meals made in-house and frozen in retro-style nostalgic trays to bake at home. Priced at $10.50, the eight varieties include Pot Pie, BBQ Meatloaf, Fried Chicken, Roasted Turkey, Four-Cheese Baked Pasta, Shepherd’s Pie, Lemon Chicken, and Poblano Mushroom Casserole. Like the TV dinners of the 1950s and 1960s, they come with a side and dessert.

The restaurant also offers a full bar featuring a variety of handcrafted cocktails, including the new Cowboy Colada with Myer’s Platinum White Rum, Sailor Jerry Rum, Malibu Rum, sweet and sour, pineapple juice, and coconut water; craft house beers brewed by Wyoming-based Melvin Brewing, such as Ankle Buster Blonde and Huckleberry Haze IPA; and local beers, including CraftHaus Silver State Blonde.

Beer fans will want to check out the Lazy Dog Beer Club, a quarterly membership that gives access to craft beer from small breweries nationwide. Priced at $39 per quarter, members start with a welcome kit with eight 16 oz beers and a glass, a $39 dining credit, draft beer upgrades, monthly beer samplers, priority seating, and discounts on house beers and online takeout orders.

The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
